In many roleplaying games, characters have access to very visible solutions.

In Dungeons & Dragons, they have spells, magic items, class abilities, miraculous healing, teleportation, fireballs, and a whole heroic toolkit built around solving problems through power.

In a science-fiction game, they might pull out a scanner, hack a door, repair a module, bypass an AI, or cobble together a drone.
